Defending Gulf Division Champions Third Coast Renegades Open 2026 Sport Fishing Championship Season With Win in Key West
HOUSTON, TX — April 30, 2026 — The Third Coast Renegades, the Houston-based defending Gulf Division champions of the Sport Fishing Championship (SFC), opened the 2026 season with a win at the Key West Classic, presented by Salty Dawgs, held April 17–19 in Key West, Florida.
The win extends one of the most consistent runs in the league. In 2025, the Renegades posted four first-place finishes across seven SFC tournaments, took the Gulf Division title, and finished as runner-up at the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs.
Aboard their 60’ Spencer Sportfisher - Magnifico, captained by Drake Sawyer and led on the water by team owner and angler Garrett Frazier, the Renegades stacked multiple sailfish releases on Day 1 to seize the overall lead across both SFC divisions, then held off late-event pressure from the Louisiana Canyons to close out the win on Championship Sunday.
The result confirms the Renegades' standing as the team to beat in the SFC Gulf Division and reinforces the Houston-based program's national profile in a 13-team league that televises on the ESPN+, Hulu, Disney Channel, and streams across major sports platforms.
"This is what we expect of ourselves," said Garrett Frazier, owner of the Third Coast Renegades. "The standard doesn't change because it's the season opener."
A Texas Team Built for the National Stage
The Sport Fishing Championship is the fastest-growing offshore fishing league in the world, with 12 national events spanning the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts and a 2026 season culminating in the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs in October. The Third Coast Renegades are the only SFC angling club representing the Texas Gulf Coast.
The team is owned by a Houston-anchored group of four operating partners: Garrett Frazier, entrepreneur and former VP of Sales & Marketing at Magnum Oil Tools International, who leads the team's on-water competitive program; Terrence C. Murphy Sr., former Texas A&M wide receiver, NFL draft pick, and CEO of Texas-based Terrence Murphy Companies, with operating roles spanning real estate, venture capital, and professional sports; Warren E. Fisher, CFA, founder of FinTech-focused asset management firm Manole Capital; and Rob McGowan, president and CEO of cloud-first managed IT firm R3 and an Inc. 5000 honoree.
The team's audience skews high-net-worth, lifestyle-driven, and nationally distributed across SFC's broadcast, streaming, and social footprint. The Renegades are currently selecting a single founding partner — one Texas-based, non-endemic brand — for the 2026 season and beyond.
